The majority of students at Lester B. Pearson are enrolled our Core English Program, where they follow the standard curriculum set by the Ministry of Education.
The Quebec Education Program (Q.E.P.) is designed as a system with three integrating elements: broad areas of learning, cross-curricular competencies and subject areas. Its structure is intended to facilitate the establishment of connections among the different educational components.
Should an individual student excel in an area, the student might be encouraged to follow an enriched program.
Enrich your mind through our advanced English Language Arts program. Students follow a more rigorous program to challenge themselves to a new level of literacy mastery.
This program could be incorporated into our Core English, Honours Mathematics and français, langue maternelle Programs.
Ce programme d’enseignement du français avancé amène les élèves à découvrir des œuvres littéraires locales et internationales et à développer leurs compétences en écriture de manière à atteindre un niveau supérieur de compétence en français.
This advanced local program is flexible, students explore local and international literary works. The writing component of the program is emphasized to achieve a higher level of proficiency in French.
Students at Lester B. Pearson High School registered in the français, programme enrichi graduate fully bilingual. In 2021-2022, our students had a 100% in secondary 4 histoire and secondary 5 Français, langue maternelle itself.
The honours group follows an accelerated Math program, this means that students in Secondary 1 compete two math programs in their first year in order to enable them to enrol in Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics in secondary 5.
The Resource Program at Lester B. Pearson High school consists of students being placed in smaller size classrooms where they will get a more personalized learning experience. In Sec 1 to 3 students can receive resource support in English, French, Math, History/Geography, and Science and Technology. In Sec 4 they can receive resource support in English, French, Math, History, and Science and in Sec 5 English, French, Math. In addition to smaller classroom settings, students will also receive extra time on quizzes, tests, and assignments. Some students who qualify can also receive assistant technology both in the classroom and during exam periods.
Students that have a learning difficulty type or are academically delayed by at least two years or more qualify for our resource program.
Our students with Special Needs are provided with a genuine sense of self-confidence through the efforts of a caring and committed staff. The Individual Education Plan and the adapted MEES programs encourage students to succeed both academically and socially while leading them to high school certification.
Lester B. Pearson High School's Sport-études program is designed for the high performance athlete who is able to maintain high academic standards.
This high-level program is recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur (MEES) and is administered in conjunction with provincial sports federations. It allows students to combine learning an athletic sport and academic studies, in order to achieve excellence in both spheres.
We provide our student athletes with a supportive environment which will enable them to succeed academically while pursuing their athletic careers.
We have two streams, Honours Math Sport-Études where students will be on the accelerated math and science path and the regular stream where students complete the same QEP program as the rest of the school but in 75% of instructional time.
Sport-Études
The Sport-Études program provides for a personalized daily schedule, daily study hall and tutorials, sufficient time to practice and compete in your sport, flexible deadlines and the opportunity to e-mail or fax assignments and projects.
Sports Concentration
In addition to having provincial agreements with the sports federations above, Lester B. Pearson High School also offers a Sport Concentration Program. Students enrolled in this option enjoy the same schedule and academic benefits as those students recognized as Sport-Études. Students in the Sport Concentration Program must meet a certain level of ability and level of training within their sport.
