Elementary Schools
Elementary school begins in Kindergarten at the age of 5 and covers a period of seven or eight years (age 5 to 12). The educational curriculum is divided into three Cycles. Some elementary schools may also offer Pre-Kindergarten which begins at age 4.

To be eligible to attend school with the EMSB, certain requirements must be met. In the Eligibility Requirements section of the site you can find the criteria and application process for most common situations.
School Bus Transportation
The EMSB Transportation Division, a part of the School Organization Department, is responsible for issuing bus passes to students who meet the walking criteria based on their address as of June 30 of each school year.

Programs
Programs offered in elementary school include three different models of French instruction, science and technology, math, English language arts, ethics and religious culture, physical education and cooperative learning. Each school has a variety of extra-curricular activities.
BASE Daycare Program
The English Montreal School Board’s B.A.S.E. (Before and After School Enriched) Daycare Program is a government subsidized supervision service offered outside regular class hours for preschool and elementary school children.
