EMSB recognizes Volunteers of Distinction and Ambassador of the Year

On the occasion of National Volunteer Week, which was marked April 16 to 23 at schools and centres, the English Montreal School Board held a special reception and ceremony to honour four Volunteers of Distinction and an Ambassador of the Year.

EMSB Teachers Recognized For Excellence

On the occasion of English Montreal School Board Teacher Recognition Day, four teachers were presented with special awards from the Petros Taverna restaurant group, as well as certificates on Monday, May 1 at James Lyng High School in St. Henri. The winners were also profiled on television by promotion co-sponsor CityNews Montreal.

Mental Health Resource Centre

The EMSB’s MHRC consists of a group of professionals from the Student Services Department. Psychologists, guidance counsellors and behaviour specialists work with the common goal of providing more support and effective services to address the mental health concerns of the EMSB student population. MHRC works with schools, teachers, and parents with the goal of enhancing school life whether via prevention, consultation, and/or intervention.

The Centre of Excellence for Speech and Language Development, operated by the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), is a part of the Inclusive Education Service (IES) which is a provincial service designed to offer support and expertise to the English sector for the organization of programs and adapted teaching for students with special learning needs.

Transitions are an exciting time filled with new and positive opportunities. Families play a crucial role in supporting their child’s transition and this section provides guidance through this process.

EMSB Gifted and Talented Learners

This section, created by EMSB consultants in the Student Services Department, provides information and resources for families and students. To raise awareness about the needs of Gifted and Talented learners, the EMSB is adopting a definition to address the individual needs of bright children within its schools. This initiative aims to implement school-wide enrichment programs and lay the groundwork for a Centre of Excellence. Additionally, it identifies the necessity for a policy specifically for Gifted learners in Quebec.
