À la CSEM, on cultive le français…jour après jour (2023-24)
During the month of January, the English Montreal School Board (EMSB) will be celebrating how the French language is cultivated at its schools through the arts. On Tuesday, January 9 at Dante Elementary School in St. Leonard, programming was unveiled at the Board’s first-ever press conference held exclusively in French.
Être bilingue, c'est gagnant! (2022-23)

Celebrating DIVERSITY and INCLUSIVITY at the EMSB (2021-22)
Equity is our priority, Diversity is our strength, Inclusion is our choice, Belonging is the result.
The English Montreal School Board unveiled “Celebrating Diversity and Inclusivity at the EMSB” from January 21 to January 28. The special six-day event kicked off Elementary and Kindergarten Registration Week, January 31 to February 4.
EMSB Libraries (2019-20)
“EMSB Libraries: Your Space to Explore.”
Among the morning’s festivities was a “human library,” formed by local authors and media figures. Symbolically these specially selected “open book” guests answered questions, from students, based on their personal and professional experience as children’s book authors and illustrators, playwrights and journalists.
PHYSICAL LITERACY (2018-19)
An apple – and 60 minutes – a day
The English Montreal School Board (EMSB) now counts 15 elementary schools which have opted to participate in a Quebec government health initiative called À l'école, on bouge! The objective it is to transform school culture toward an active one, specifically by ensuring students are provided with the opportunity to accumulate at least 60 minutes of physical activity during each school day.
STEAM (2017-18)
“STEAM” stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. It represents a multi-disciplinary initiative that promotes creativity and high levels of student engagement, as they perform a series of group projects that not only involve five school subject domains, but also makes them more relevant, creative, discovery-based and interesting for students.
