EMSB expresses profound sadness at the loss of life in Israel and Gaza
In the wake of the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel and the ensuing violence in the region, the English Montreal School Board wishes to make the following statement.
We express profound sadness at the loss of life of innocent victims in Israel and Gaza and we pray for a peaceful resolution to this dispute.
The EMSB recognizes that the current crisis will have a deep impact on many members of our community. This is a frightening and emotional time for many, particularly for those with close connections to this part of the world.
Our focus is on ensuring our students have the support they require. The team from the EMSB Mental Health Resource Centre has experts available to provide counseling to our students and staff affected by this war. We are also in communication with organizations providing relief efforts to the region to see how we may be of assistance.
We wish to reiterate that the deliberate targeting of civilians is never justified. The EMSB has students and staff of all faiths and a zero tolerance for any acts of hatred and racism. Our commitment is to ensure that our schools are inclusive spaces where everyone, whatever their race or religion, is welcome and feels safe.
