We are witnessing a rapid rise in adolescents and young adults who are either considering or have actually began vaping using electronic cigarettes.

We, at the McGill Cancer Prevention Centre are very much concerned about the misinformation that youngsters are receiving form their peers and social media, which claims that these products are healthier and safer than cigarettes. Given what we currently know about vaping, these products are not only unsafe, but could result in adolescents and young adults becoming the new nicotine addicts.

In order to clear the air about what the science currently says about these products, we would like to inform parents about this important and deleterious consequences of such products.

If you would like to know more about this developing epidemic, feel free to get in touch with us. Our outreach to the community entails visiting all levels of education and informing parents and students about what are the current science of vaping and to encourage parents to participate in the development of their children towards a safe and healthy smoke and vape free environment. Thus, we will be very happy to come to your schools to give information sessions on vaping and smoking for parents and students, as much as requested.

The McGill Cancer Centre is hosting a free annual public lecture titled "Are E-cigarettes a New Addiction" on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at 3625 Avenue du Parc, Salle Prince Arthur A. This lecture targets the harms of vaping.
