Anti-Bullying advocate and inspiration behind Pink Shirt Day to visit schools

Anti-bullying advocate Travis Price, famous for his 2007 pink shirt protest at a Nova Scotia high school, will be visiting five schools from February 4 to 7.

Price’s schedule is as follows:

• Monday, February 4: Edward Murphy School (6800 Pierre de Coubertin) in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve at 10:30 am.
• Tuesday, February 5: East Hill School (10350 Perras) in R.D.P. at 9:00 a.m.
• Wednesday, February 6: Gerald McShane Elementary School (6111 Maurice Duplessis) in Montreal North 9 a.m.
• Thursday February 7: General Vanier Elementary School (4555 Buies) at 9:30 a.m. and Pierre de Coubertin Elementary School (4700 Lavoisier) in St. Leonard (1 p.m.).
• Friday, February 8 at Our Lady of Pompei Elementary School (9944 St. Michel) in Ahuntsic (9:15 a.m.).

 Unbeknownst to Price at the time, his protest in 2007 would launch a viral movement whereas students across Canada would wear pink as an affront to bullying. Furthermore, fundraisers associated with Pink Shirt Day have raised over $1.8 million. 

 The visit will be special for students at Edward Murphy School as they have embarked upon a year-long project to “Keep Kind in Mind,” which encourages students to spread messages of kindness.
