Changes to Dismissal

Please be reminded that no changes (bus, walker, pick up, daycare) to students' dismissal can be made after 3 PM. This is in the interest of student safety. In addition, if there is a change to your child's dismissal, please ensure you contact both the main office and your child's teacher. If Daycare is involved, please include Ms. Melodie in your communication as well.
One email to everyone is sufficient.

We will NOT alter a student's dismissal procedure without confirmation from a parent beforehand.

YouTube Videos

We are asking parents to be extra vigilant regarding their child's screen time; particularly if your children are watching YouTube.
I am specifically referring to the Huggy Wuggy character and videos. Huggy Wuggy encourages children to commit violent acts to themselves and others. Huggy Wuggy demonstrates to children how to hug someone until “they can no longer breathe”. Huggy Wuggy convinces children that toys or objects are trying to cause harm. Additionally, more extreme content can be viewed as well.

Although the students do not watch these videos at school, the students who do view these videos at home are talking about it at school, playing schoolyard games which mimick HuggyWuggy videos, and sometimes repeat the inappropriate content they hear in the videos.

Huggy Wuggy content can be found on Youtube, Tik Tok, and through online search engines.Though some Huggy Wuggy content is being removed and regulated we encourage all parentsto audit their kids App and online usage for Huggy Wuggy content.

We thank you for your cooperation in this very important matter.

Daycare 2022 - 2023

As we begin to plan for the 2022-2023 school year, we would like to know if there is a demand for Daycare services as of 7 AM.  In order for this to happen, there would have to be sufficient demand from parents for this service on a regular basis - not sporadically.  If this is something of interest to you, please send me an email (cchilelli@emsb.qc.ca) specifying your child's name and grade in 2022-2023.  Please ensure I receive this information by Monday, May 9th.

Early Dismissal

As is the case with changes to dismissal, both the office and your child's Homeroom teacher must be advised of any early dismissal.

Water Bottles

As the weather begins to warm up (FINALLY!), students are encouraged to have a water bottle which they can refill throughout the day as needed.

Spotlight on Grade 6

Field trip to RTC

The Grade 6 students took a trip to the Rosemount Technology Centre, this was an opportunity for students to explore vocational career options for the future. Students toured the facilities and heard about the many different programs available at RTC. In the cabinetmaking program, they got to experience not only through seeing but actively participating in the process of making a wooden ping pong paddle! A major highlight for students (and their Teachers) was being able to test out their paddles in a few friendly games afterward. The fun didn't stop there, in the afternoon they created their own prints at the Digital Layout and Printing Centre. The Grade 6's were actively engaged and I think we have some potential future RTC students at EBS!

French Exams

Grade 6 students worked hard on their Cycle 3 French exams and should be proud of all their efforts. They are officially completed and now only have the Math and English exams left to go!

Storytelling

Some of our Grade 6 students presented in the schoolwide storytelling event. A special shout out to Romell Thomas who won the Peoples Choice Award, voted on by the students of EBS. And another special out to Noam Perez who presented virtually for other Elementary Schools across Montreal. The younger students enjoyed hearing from all EBS storytellers and it was a wonderful opportunity to connect as an entire school.
