Activities and Field Trips

Terry Fox Run (September/October)

Every school year in September the students at Elizabeth Ballantyne are invited to participate in this great cause which raises money for the Terry Fox Foundation. The children run or walk anywhere from 1 to 2 kilometers on a route in Montreal West. The event is followed by a corn roast that involves the whole school. Everybody at EBS has a wonderful time and this is all done for a great cause.

Classe Neige (February)

Every year, the Cycle 3 students go on a 3 day and 2 night winter trip to Plein Air Lanaudia (Village des Jeunes) in St-Come. Animators keep them busy all day and evening with various activities such as tubing, skating, snowshoeing, survival in the woods, archery and so much more.  It is an enjoyable trip where students bond with each other and with their teachers – and they are encouraged to communicate in French.  What an amazing experience for all students at EBS!

Basketball Jamboree (January)

Every year in January, M. Fortin takes cycle 3 students to McGill University to participate in this great jamboree. The students are given the opportunity to work on different skills organized by McGill students. The day is complete with a tour of the McGill arena and its facilities. The children are also given the opportunity to skate on the rink where the McGill Redmen host their home games.

Halo Road Race (April/May)

Every year Elizabeth Ballantyne is well represented on Mont Royal for this annual running event, which is attended by many GMAA schools. Cycles 2 and 3 students are invited to participate to run a 1 km or 2 km race. The students are given the opportunity to compete against students from other schools. It is fun for all the students and a great experience.

Graduation Trip (June)

In June, the grade 6 graduating class takes part in this great trip to Quebec City. They visit the historical city and have the opportunity to reenact the war between the British and the French on the Plains of Abraham. The trip would not be complete without Laser Quest and a visit to the Aquarium.

Field Day (June)

In June, Elizabeth Ballantyne holds its annual Field Day. The whole school participates in organized activities in the morning. In the afternoon, classes compete in a Tug of War contest, followed by a soccer baseball game. The day ends with a Popsicle for everyone.  It a fabulous and exciting day for the students and the staff  at Elizabeth Ballantyne.

Graduation Ceremony (June)

In June, we say goodbye to our grade 6 students who are graduating from Elizabeth Ballantyne School. During the ceremony, awards are given to the students who were outstanding in their respective subjects.  Trophies and plaques are also awarded to students for high academic achievement.
